Bonnie

Directed and Written by Tiffany Franco

Bonnie is a mid-1950s drama that dives into the captivating world of the infamous duo Bonnie and Clyde. This reimagining shines a spotlight on Bonnie's journey as a daring criminal, relentlessly seeking a life of greater meaning and fulfillment.

Director Statement

When I embarked on the journey of creating "Bonnie," I drew inspiration from classic films of the past and the intriguing concept of revisiting and reimagining stories. My objective was to breathe life into a narrative that not only offered a fresh perspective from a female lens but also examined the glamorization of the infamous duo, Bonnie and Clyde. Moreover, I aimed to infuse universal emotions and desires into the archetype of the dynamic duo relationship.

In the world I've created in "Bonnie," we follow the partners in crime on their final heist before embarking on a new life together. At its core, this film delves deeply into universal feelings and experiences such as heartbreak, revenge, and betrayal. Through Bonnie's journey following Clyde's betrayal, we explore the complex nature of seeking revenge and the sacrifices it demands. Bonnie finds herself compelled to sacrifice her love in pursuit of the future she desires.

With this short, I have endeavored to craft a film that not only entertains and captivates but also prompts reflection on the complexities of relationships, the allure of fantasy, and the resilience of the human spirit. Through the lens of a female filmmaker, I hope to shed light on the multifaceted nature of storytelling and its power to challenge preconceived notions and expectations, while also celebrating the strength and agency of female characters in cinema.
